A reader reflects
“An inspiring and empowering read. Every Filipino nurse should read this. It reminds us that the skills we’ve developed through nursing are valuable far beyond the hospital and that we’re capable of achieving even greater things. Well done to the author!”
Meet the writer
I trained as a nurse in the Philippines.
Like many nurses, I thought I knew exactly where life was taking me. But life has a way of surprising us. Instead of spending my career inside a hospital, I found myself living and working overseas. For more than a decade, I’ve worked as an OFW outside nursing practice—a path I never imagined taking.
At first, I wondered whether stepping away from nursing meant leaving a part of myself behind. Over time, I realised something important: the compassion, resilience and discipline nursing taught me never left me. They simply found new ways to serve me.
That realisation became the beginning of The Gleen Collection.
Today, I write for Filipino nurses—and for anyone standing at the edge of a new chapter—sharing honest stories, practical guides and quiet encouragement for the road ahead. Because sometimes the path we never planned becomes the one that changes us the most.
